A Sunday Afternoon at the Antique Emporium
Hello, my Darlings!
How is everyone? I hope all is well.
I am doing great and currently enjoying a nice cup of black tea with lavender vanilla-infused creamer.
I am enjoying my Sunday. I am off today, so I decided to do something I genuinely enjoy: visiting antique stores.
I did not stay out for very long because the downtown area where I live tends to get quite busy on Sundays. There are so many little shops downtown that I feel as though I have barely scratched the surface. I know there are still hidden stores and little corners I have yet to stumble upon.

Choosing to Go Anyway
Okay, so I have to be honest.
I was not going to leave the house today because I have been feeling exhausted lately. I had every excuse for why I did not want to go out, but eventually, I made the decision to just go.
Of course, after I got ready to leave, it began to rain.
I could have easily taken that as my sign to stay home, but I decided I was going to go anyway.
My intention for this little outing was simply to linger, look around, and take my time. I wanted to truly embrace the moment.
I did not want to feel rushed or tied to a schedule. I just wanted the afternoon to feel as though it could go on forever.
Wandering Through the Emporium
The Emporium was such a magical place.

The stalls were filled with memories from another time. There were tea sets, writing desks, dresses, books, artwork, handbags, jewelry, and so many other beautiful things tucked into every corner.
I know there are a few more antique stores downtown that I still need to explore, but I truly love visiting the Emporium.
When I walked in, there were other like-minded people slowly making their way through the aisles, looking at how each of the different stalls had been curated.
One stall looked as though it had been designed especially for someone with a love for all things equestrian. There were riding boots, hats, artwork, and books.

It was probably my favorite stall of the afternoon because, at the moment, I have been enjoying Heartland. But I will save that conversation for another post.
Another stall I enjoyed was filled with vintage clothing, handbags, and brooches.
Inside one of the cabinets, I spotted a Ralph Lauren handbag that I would absolutely love to own. I am not sure when the bag was made, but I told myself that if it is meant for me to have after I have saved for it, perhaps it will still be there.

I also saw a few Dooney & Bourke handbags that piqued my interest, but I decided to keep my eye on the Ralph Lauren bag.
There was also a beautiful jewelry box that I thought would be perfect for keeping my jewelry in. Unfortunately, by the time I went back to take another look at it, it was already gone.

That is one thing about antique shopping—you never quite know if something will still be waiting for you when you come back.
Little Treasures I Found
I also came across a beautiful dress with so many lovely details that I wished it would fit me.
The dress was covered in beautiful purple, red, and blue flowers, and the front had pearl buttons and lace detailing. It was incredibly pretty and feminine.

I had also been hoping to find a small tea set just for one, but I did not come across one this time.
What I did find, however, was a beautiful little setup with a chair that I could imagine placing in my bedroom beside the window. It would be the perfect spot for reading a book or having tea in my room.

I also found a Laura Ashley electric kettle that I would love to use as a replacement for my current kettle.
I have always been a fan of Laura Ashley, so seeing that kettle tucked away in the Emporium immediately caught my attention. I will definitely be going back to take another look at it.

I actually have a small list of items I have been on the hunt for, so I am trying not to rush the process. Part of the fun is taking my time and waiting until I find the pieces that feel right.
The Book Corner
Last but certainly not least, I found the book section of the Emporium.

There were so many books that are already on my wishlist, and I know I will be going back for some of them.
I have plans to create a small reading corner in my bedroom, so the book section will definitely become one of my regular stops whenever I visit.
What I loved most was the way the books were organized—or perhaps not organized.
Some were stacked on the floor, one on top of another. Others filled the shelves, while a few were simply placed on tables.

It had this wonderfully messy, collected-over-time feeling.
Actually, it reminded me a little of the small library I currently have in my bedroom.
Perhaps that is why I liked it so much.
A Sunday Well Spent
So, my Sunday afternoon was a success.

I am happy that I pushed through my tiredness and allowed myself to enjoy a few quiet hours doing something I love.
And now I am back home, ready to heat up my black bean soup and enjoy it alongside a warm piece of Parmesan rosemary bread.
A lovely ending to a simple Sunday afternoon.
Does your downtown have an Emporium or antique store that you love visiting? And is there something you are always on the hunt for when you go antique shopping?
Until next time,
Xo,
