A Little Evening Shop After Work

Good evening, my Darlings!

How is everyone?

It has been a long day, and after work, I decided to stop by the shop to pick up a few things I could enjoy with my nightly tea.

There is something about truly committing to living at a slower pace. Summer is coming to a close, and September has been really good to me so far. I have been thinking more about the little things I can do to make my everyday life feel a little more intentional.

Something to Look Forward To

So, after work, I decided to go to a little shop and find a few treats for myself—something to look forward to after a long day.

Home is truly where my heart is, and knowing I had something waiting for me to enjoy alongside my tea somehow made my little after-work shop even more exciting.

I cannot remember the last time I went grocery shopping at night, but I will say it became one of the most relaxing parts of my evening.

The store was nearly empty. There were no crowds and no reason to rush.

It was close to closing time, so I made my selections without lingering too long, but there was something lovely about the stillness of the store.

I listened to the music playing overhead and heard the stock person clinking glass bottles of juice onto the shelves. Nearby, a few employees were talking about their evening plans and what they were going to do once their shifts ended.

That was my cue that my little evening shop needed to come to an end.

Choosing the Experience Anyway

I was tired, but I pushed through it and did something for myself that I would normally have several excuses for avoiding.

And I am glad I did.

This evening feels a little more special because I am actually doing the things I so often imagine doing for myself.

For the rest of this season, I want to create more of those little experiences I have always pictured in my mind: spending a quiet evening drinking tea, enjoying a small treat on a pretty plate, listening to a record, or settling in with a good book.

Nothing extravagant.

Just small ways of reminding myself that my life is happening now.

Not Saving Everything for One Day

I have started asking myself why I put these things aside.

Why do I so often choose to simply go to sleep after a long day instead of giving myself even thirty quiet minutes to enjoy my own life?

There is nothing wrong with needing rest, of course. But I do not want every day to become something I simply get through, only to wake up and do it all over again.

I also do not want to keep telling myself, One day I’ll do this, or I’ll enjoy that someday.

Sometimes, “one day” can simply be tonight.

So, if you can, treat yourself to something small this evening.

Make the tea.

Put something lovely on a plate.

Turn on the record.

Read a few pages of the book.

You do not need a special occasion to enjoy the life you are already living.

Until next time,

Xo,
Georgiana
